If Paris is the City of Love, Madrid is the City of Affection
This photo-reportage explores public displays of affection (PDA) in Madrid, focusing specifically on the lively and romantic atmosphere of the Temple of Debod at sunset. Captured on April 9th, 2025, the series of ten photographs documents how couples and close friends share moments of intimacy, love, and connection in one of the city's most scenic public spaces. As the golden light fades and sun begins to darken the night, the park becomes a safe space for quiet affection marked by picnics, soft embraces, and meaningful kisses. While PDA sometimes leads to discomfort or judgment, Madrid offers a refreshing openness. Through these images I want to celebrate the simplicity of being close to and making time for those you care about, highlighting how love and friendship manifest in everyday life. Using candid, raw moments of true love, I want my audience to reflect on the importance of affection, presence, and building supportive communities in public spaces.
